BIOFIX FRESH HOSTS A SEMINAR: THE APPLICATION OF BIOTECHNOLOGY IN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

On the afternoon of November 27, 2022, in Phan Thiet City, BioFix Fresh successfully hosted its first seminar on the topic “The Application of Biotechnology in Sustainable Tourism Development,” attended by nearly 90 managers and chief engineers from restaurants, hotels, resorts, and other establishments in the region.

This seminar provides an opportunity for managers and chief engineers to exchange ideas, share experiences, identify limitations, and find appropriate solutions to improve the quality and operational efficiency of accommodation facilities and services, as well as to better adapt to new trends in the industry.

At the same time, the program focuses on clarifying the context and trends of sustainable development; the opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam’s tourism accommodations and tourist areas, such as: environmental issues; energy conservation, water conservation, and waste management in tourism accommodations and tourist areas; Sustainable management technologies for tourism accommodation facilities; Identifying environmentally friendly tourism accommodation facilities through sustainable tourism certifications, green labels, and energy-saving certifications…

At this seminar, representatives from BioFix Fresh emphasized the benefits that biotechnology can offer amid the shift from mass tourism to sustainable tourism. By improving the management of wastewater, solid waste, and air quality—and addressing environmental issues without causing secondary pollution at accommodation facilities— This contributes to the tourism industry’s journey toward sustainability. This is particularly relevant as the tourism sector in Vietnam, and globally, is increasingly prioritizing environmental factors alongside economic, cultural, and social values.

I. So, what is sustainable tourism?

Sustainable tourism is likened to a three-legged stool, centered on economic, socio-cultural, and environmental factors. It allows for economic growth while promoting the cultural beauty of our country to the world without harming the environment. It addresses the negative impacts caused by mass tourism.

And today, sustainable tourism has garnered significant attention from the public. Notably, Quang Nam Province announced its Green Tourism Criteria in 2021 with support from the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program (SSTP), based on 25 internationally applied sustainable tourism criteria that have been adapted to suit small and medium-sized enterprises as well as local conditions. Quang Nam’s Green Tourism Criteria encompass six categories: hotels, homestays, resorts, tour operators, community-based tourism sites, and attractions. Businesses and destinations certified as meeting green tourism standards will be recognized with a “basil leaf” emblem, which has three levels. Specifically, a business or destination earns three basil leaves when it meets 90% of the criteria in the Green Tourism Criteria.

II. Green Solutions for the Hospitality Industry

In light of the new wave of transformation in the tourism industry, BioFix Fresh aims to partner with hotels, resorts, and other establishments to help them adopt and implement environmental standards in their business operations. To help them move closer to obtaining certifications such as Sustainable Accommodation and Sustainable Tourism labels, we offer a suite of green solutions tailored specifically for the hospitality industry, designed for practical application in each region as follows:

A) Wastewater treatment system area:

The main product lines BAC UB – 1003, BAC AM – 1006 help accelerate the system’s treatment efficiency while promoting the breakdown of complex organic compounds and removing carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, etc. As a result, the biological system operates stably, and the treated wastewater meets the required discharge standards in accordance with current regulations.

B) The restroom area and resort grounds include the following features:

Men’s urinal liners help prevent water splashes in the urinal, on the floor, and on clothing. With a long-lasting fragrance, they help keep restrooms and plumbing clean and fresh.

Odor control in floor drains and wastewater treatment systems…using the microbial product BAC OC – 1101, which helps thoroughly control odors thanks to its integrated three-tier mechanism. It breaks down accumulated organic matter inside the pipes and prevents the generation of toxic gases such as H2S, NH3

For septic tanks, BAC ST – 1001 accelerates the decomposition of organic matter, feces, and waste, thereby minimizing sediment buildup in septic tanks through the release of single-celled microorganisms. As a result, it extends the time between septic tank pumpings and reduces unpleasant odors seeping through the pipes by using the product in the toilet. This reduces the volume of waste requiring treatment in subsequent system stages.

C) Living Room Area

Over time, unpleasant odors, algae, and slime build up in the air conditioner’s condensate drain, causing the unit to leak water and emit a musty, unpleasant smell. Air Conditioner Drain Unclogging Tablets are the solution to these issues. With a wide range of products suitable for the capacity of various air conditioner models, including both residential and industrial units. They offer flexibility tailored to the specific features and scale of resorts, hotels, and more…

D) Kitchen Area

To break down grease buildup in various areas such as grease traps, pipes, and water tanks… BioFix Fresh offers specialized product lines: BAC GT – 1202, BAC GTP – 1203, BAC GB – 1201, BAC GTT – 1204. These products release selected microbial strains for grease treatment that aggregate to form biofilms, delivering superior performance.

At the same time, we promote the recycling of food waste through models that convert waste into resources, applying them to the composting process using the BAC – CS 1401 product. This helps enhance the sustainability of our business operations.

Through its practical insights, BioFix Fresh also received constructive feedback and engaged in positive discussions with the guests throughout the seminar. The company not only shared its expertise and strengths but also openly addressed challenges and obstacles to facilitate discussion. And to identify solutions to promptly resolve and address the challenges in the operation and management of waste at their accommodation facilities. BioFix Fresh believes these contributions were instrumental in the success of today’s seminar.
